Blue Revival

I repurpose dead or naturally fallen trees and roots in my artwork, to highlight their beautiful organic qualities. It is vital for us to understand the importance of our natural surroundings, and the impact humans have on the sustainability of our ecological environment. My piece Blue Revival is about the renewal of nature. I repurposed the root of a dead mesquite tree by breathing life back into it. I used 1/8 inch metal rod to represent the sprouting of new growth, and the stained glass adds a color element that does not detract from the natural beauty of the raw wood. The weight of the stained glass in conjunction with the undulating metal rod provides Blue Revival with subtle kinetic energy.
