Winter in Tahquamenon

Time exposure of Upper Tahquamenon Falls in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula during winter. While part of the falls and river is frozen, the force of the water is such that much remains unfrozen, creating an intriguing contrast of shapes, color and motion. In addition, the long time exposure (20 seconds) reveals an interesting, swirling pool in the lower left that is otherwise not visible. The backlit mist created by the rushing water further compliments this unique wintery image. This photo was taken with a Nikon Df and Tokina 17mm f3.5 lens fitted with neutral density filter.
