"Pulse" - “I feel it but I can't think it, I see it but I can't name it, this is consciousness’ - Dirk Van der Sman 2017 - This small doorway leads to the large scale ephemeral art of an artist in Australia. “Pulse” – captures the essence of his artistic statement. Using ephemeral media and environment, he gives to the audience a symbolic reminder of their impermanence, interdependence on all things for consciousness and to live your life to the fullest of your being. Dirk embeded his lines in sand, a circle, a coil, a spiral, a Form. A Pulse flows from an open ocean, through a channel, to erase the lines a with gentle and secular transparency. Plato, King Ubu, Archimedes, Fibonacci, Topology, Lacan tied together in a set of lines. The audience is transported to a beach called Torquay in Wathaurong Country. The media runs for 2 minutes until the lines are erased and impermanence is actualised.
