Creating from the human figure remains the greatest challenge of all subject matter, because the artist must connect with live organic energies. Automatically factored into the process for authenticity and integrity includes understanding the nature of the brush, its fibers and the charge of paint, the mix of color, knowing the structures of the figure, composing the spacial relationships within the figure and as well the figure to ground relationships, the attitudinal dimensions, the moisture of the paper and the direction, rhythm, economy and intensity of each stroke, the pace of the painting/printing processes and considering all compositional principles and potentials. Poem: Featherlite Self, wrought from organic slip, Float sensuously thru life’s celestial trip. Mind, breathe deeply life’s passions, told, For in luminous flesh, humanity holds. Featherlite, vortex of energized skies, Love where heart tattoos fly. Unknowns, channel not to measured strokes, Invent wise harbinger of hope. © L.Rizzolo Unedited rewrite: 5/3/17
