At first glance, the title 'Arctic Turbulence' may seem like an odd title for a work of art installed in a bridal boutique. A wedding is a happy occasion celebrating the union between two people starting their lives together: Happily Ever After. Popular culture presents marriage as completely ideal with no conflict or 'a ball and chain' doomed to a miserable life. If our relationship experience tells us one thing it is that marriage isn't about being constantly happy and perfectly in love: it is about working through your problems and respecting one another for who you are. On an air plane, turbulence is a shift that allows you to move into a higher level - the next level. A little bumpy, turbulence is not a hindrance, but a crucial part of a flight that allows your plane to go your destination. The arctic brings to mind a cold, uncharted territory with no residents. However, it is central to the earth's climate. It keeps methane at bay and limits severe weather.
