Whether you are: stalking for big game on the hot plains of Africa, or just out in a row boat in the early morning watching a bobber bouncing, the excitement is all the same, the thrill of the hunt. My piece titled, “Dinner,” shows the satisfaction of capturing the elusive prey. It is for the viewer to decide what happened next? The obvious answer since it is titled “Dinner,” is that the fisherman does indeed plan on eating it. He happened to be fishing with his granddaughter. Once he caught the fish she asked, “What are we going to name it?” Grandpa’s enthusiastic response was, “Dinner.” Then, she asked if she could take Dinner home for a pet? Needless to say Grandpa explained the catch and release technique. My intent is to capture the humor of everyday scenes in American life. The medium I am most drawn to is the simple lead pencil. I find the challenges stimulating, leading me to match this simple yet revealing art style with a simply pure moment in life.
