Every woman has a fear of breast cancer and the struggles that may entangle them in the journey of becoming cancer free. These pieces represent the breast cancer ribbon and the darkness felt on the way to redemption. Although these pieces pull my viewer in, it eventually releases them as a survivor. It is only in true suffocation that one appreciates the ability to breathe and live without fear of the unknown. The texture used in my painting represents the entanglement of cancer, and the unity that occurs between victims during their recoveries. The unity is represented throughout the repeated hourglass form throughout the piece. Fragility displayed through the delicate petals of a flower amidst harsh storms. And beauty in the transformation. Together we survive.
