“Boats and Bridges” is an encaustic (beeswax) and mixed-media triptych. In this work I seek to raise awareness of the present worldwide refugee crisis.. I have chosen a primitive looking vessel to symbolize the plight of the refugee. The vessel symbolizes the movement of people and the perilous journey that migrants often must endure. The vessel image is repeated numerous times within each painting in order to allude to the large volume of refugees affected by the current political climate in our country and the world. I use mainly muted colors and a lot of black and white to give weight to these concerns. Each braced wood panel is 30" x 40" in size and fitted with d-rings and wire.
