This sculpture consist of 5807 pieces of cut and glued wood. The four wood's are Maple, Yellow Heart Paducah and Wenge. The idea for this artwork came to me while I was at the Ford Museum. It was a gift from the Prime Minister of Ireland to President Ford during our bicentennial celebration. The building of the Ford Museum was one of the key events that started the rebirth of downtown Grand Rapids. That is how I came to name this piece of art. The Renaissance Flame of Grand Rapids.
