Early Evening Backlight

The forests that, in places, crowd the northern Michigan coastline, occasion some of the most breathtaking moments of light and spatial interaction. Transition, which is a constant, from light angle to light angle is a factor of time, not the province of the painter - except, perhaps, the cubist. Inspired by a moment during a walk along the wooded shore late in the day, I found the lighting of this place and time particularly striking and have tried to capture it. Not exactly the "magic light" of sunset yet, it has its own unique dimension and dramatically striking characteristics.
