My Painting entitled Tragedy, Memory and honor was created to reflect and honor the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. The painting consists of five panels each measuring 7'x9'. I was honored to have been at ground zero in New York and gathered dust, business cards and other debris found on the site and mixed them into the surface of the painting. There are three motifs composited to reflect the the climatic moments of that horrible day in American history. The left section indicates the collapsing of the buildings while the center panel is a reflective dedication to those who perished on that day. The far right section emphasizes the rebuilding and coming together of nation while the world watched. I would be extremely thrilled to show this large and memorable work to the large audience in Grand Rapids.
