Architectual Weaving

My current work explores the connection between mass, volume and space perception. The curvilinear structures create linear gestural, three-dimensional drawings that loop through the site and project interesting shadow play. The location of this Installation, in The City Water Building is serendipitous and inspirational.Once used to provide water services to the residents of Grand Rapids, This building was where water was pumped and citizens came to pay their bills. The landmark building and my art have been shaped by water, specifically references of waves , wind as in sails, bridges, flight, airplanes, wings and birds are all part of my visual vocabulary. There is a definite intention to bend and shape curvilinear forms that reference fluidity and motion. I look at the work to fill the space with volume of energy of swooping, orbs, aerodynamic vessels, shapes. There is no blueprint to what I make, it’s intuitive that is organically engineered.
