Maarten Baas combines theater, art, film, and design in Sweeper's Clock to make a 12-hour-long movie in which two performers replicate an analog clock by sweeping two piles of garbage (one for the hour hand, one for the minute hand) to indicate the time. Sweeper's Clock is part of his Real Time series of 12-hour films, a set of four works in which people’s actions, rather than traditional clocks, present the passage of time as a highly physical, even labor-intensive process.
