La Vie en "Roses"

La Vie en “Roses” is a “tablescape” painted from memory and imagination. The subject matter is stylized, as I am not interested in direct representation; however, it is the play of shapes within the composition that speaks to me. The scale of this painting is large, so that pattern, line, and shape become as important as the visual objects themselves. As an artist and a musician, I am always thinking subconsciously in terms of sound quality within each painting. Repetition of a visual pattern become rhythm, and line and color transform into melody and harmony. The imaginary still life objects in La Vie en “Roses” are used other than simple compositional elements. They are symbols and visual metaphors which have meaning to my personal life. La Vie en “Roses” is a framed acrylic painting - 50” x 61”
