Green Mandala I

Green Mandala I is a multimedia art piece depicting an inner mandala surrounded by a larger mandala. I was inspired by the five element perspective of Tibetan Buddhism and Green Tara, the Buddhist embodiment of compassion with action. Green Tara is a brilliant shade of green- green representing the living and growing nature of compassion, wisdom, and love. The patterns of the mandala are based on ancient symbols found throughout the world. I used a diverse range of art techniques including silk painting, block printing, paper cutting, origami, watercolors, colored pencils, and acrylic paints. Green Mandala I incorporates the growing color of green with the red shades of the heart representing compassion. The color green represents plants, nature, jungles, and forests. The color green encompasses the healing and nourishing power of the earth.
