Transformation (Metamorphosis)

Transformation (Metamorphosis) is a piece centered around themes of eternal life and spirituality. It is reminiscent of classical art & executed in tones of gray to create the illusion of sculpture as it gives a three-dimensional effect. This painting (8' x 3') is a depiction of a girl who has been in her cocoon, allowing God to shape and mold her mind, body, and soul. The figure is bursting out of her shell, shedding her old ways and letting her inward spiritual transformation manifest itself on her outward appearance. The figure is mirrored to reflect this change. In the first image the figure is looking down, a sign of fear & doubt. In the second image she is awakened, looking out at the viewer with confidence. She embraces her change, for she has been made anew and can effectively serve her divine will. I will have two (2' x 1.5') tactile representations of the paintings in clay relief, for those who are blind and visually impaired to feel what sighted viewers are able to see.
