The Morton Salt Girl Really Let Herself Go

Photographed in the post apocalyptic desolation of Salton City, California. Once envisioned as a vacation destination, Salton City lays largely abandoned on the shores of the Salton Sea. Created by the failure of Colorado River irrigation canals, the sea began to form in 1905 in California’s Imperial Valley. Due to high levels of farm runoff, rising salinity levels and lack of outflow, the sea is now considered a “looming environmental and public health crisis”.
