The Path Ahead and The Path Behind

Every year I've been at ArtPrize, I've noticed viewers have a strong desire to touch the art work. I got the idea to create a tactile experience through a painting. I have begun work on two pieces, both 24x12". I've been using various found objects from my home to glue to the canvases to create different textures. The paintings are landscapes of trees. They are still in progress and I will continue to post updates here and on my Facebook fan page. Every year I've entered, I've tried to think of a way to challenge myself and engage the public with my artwork. This was an idea I had in my head for a while and started by wondering if I could create a tactile painting that would enable blind and vision impaired persons to experience artwork. I have returned to my familiar subject of trees and continuing my theme of my journey through grief. The Path Ahead and the Path Behind represents how we are driven into the future by our past experiences.
