1380 Screws

This sculpture is my attempt to symbolize both the beauty and the pain in the life of someone, like my wife, living with Cystic Fibrosis. From a distance, you will see a graceful DNA double helix looping back to itself, but as you approach, the harshness comes into view. The forty two inch circle has jagged points that represent the difficulties and complications that must be tamed. A seemingly endless supply of prescription drugs is one of those struggles, and to help visualize the magnitude of this, I have incorporated an equal amount of screws compared to the number of pills that my wife must take in an average month, 1380.
