Life Force

Please join me in exploring the world of the honeybee - giver of life, taker of nothing. She travels thousands of miles, spreading pollen and helping our food grow - all to make a few drops of honey before she dies. She is fragile and beautiful. She is a dancer, a master at communicating, and an intricate builder. She is the only insect known by mankind to create food. And what an amazing food it is. This is a series of 7. They are macro photography mounted on birchwood panels. through an encaustic technique, beeswax is combined with tree resin to build up over the image. The wax from the honeycomb of the bees shown in the images is merged into the encaustic overlay, preserving the beauty of each lady through time. Two of the images are 24" wide by 36" tall. Two are 20" wide by 30" tall. Three are 20" wide by 16" tall.
