Collection During the Warming

A Collection During the Warming developed over the last year while drawing and painting found birds. When I find birds dead, it is a gift to study each individual closely as a testament to the spirit of life. One can’t help to ponder the effect of future environmental changes on bird populations. Everything changes, degenerates, decomposes, and regrows. What we choose to do is an integral part of that continuum. From my personal observations over the last 30 years, local bird populations and diversity has increased with the implementations of government programs such as CRP (Conservation Reserve Program). What species in this collection will survive the next 30 years? I hope to provide viewers with a window looking at a small collection from our present time and hope they cast their minds forward to implement a flourishing future for all living things. Disclaimer: No birds were killed to create this artwork. Birds were found dead, labeled, and a life-sized likeness created. The birds were then given to the ornithology department at Truman State University or buried with respect.
