"15th Ave, et al"

"15th Ave., et al" This installation will incorporate approximately 20-25 individual watercolor studies, framed and hung together to form a single, cohesive wall display. The studies in this series encompass a survey of landscapes done in the last few years throughout the midwest. Using a mix of watercolor, pencil, and Sharpie® markers, the studies follow traditional plein air landscape observations, but with an underlying subtext of energy, and the juxtaposition of the energy transformation happening throughout this region with nature. I've written about this subject in my blog, “Road Works”, as I think it’s the single most important issue of our time. It’s not important to me that the viewer pick up on this theme in my work, as I also think that the color, lines and marks on paper, broken down to their most simplistic expressions, can make something beautiful that can be appreciated by all. I hope you enjoy my work, and look forward to having a great display in your venue at Art Prize 2015!
