Live projection times: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 6:30-9pm. Visit auralwood.narrativemachine.com for an online demo! --- Art holds great potential. For centuries, it has inspired emotion, evoked thought, and recorded histories. Yet too often, I feel, we focus solely on the artwork or the artist, and forget the valuable role each of us plays in the equation. Auralwood's conception began with this idea, and the completed piece seeks to emphasize the importance of the viewer while simultaneously creating a unique sensory experience. An evolution of a piece created for the Toledo Museum of Art's “Zeros and Ones” exhibition, the work is dependent on its environment. When left in a space devoid of sound, the growth of this digital forest slows to a crawl. If, on the other hand, the area is filled with ambient noise, the forest springs to life, energized by volume and frequency. Participants may also step behind the screen to cast a shadow, and directly impact the visuals.
