Love Stories

They were neglected, abused, unwanted - but, at last, they found love - some sooner, some later in life but they are all loved at last. Most of these individual images depict the "love at first sight moment" of a rescue dog meeting his or her new family for the first time and others depict a long term love affair. This idea blossomed from a single image of a woman with her 17 year old rescued dog. She calls him her soulmate. I knew I'd find other images like hers to include in this project. Aside from my love of dogs, I paint and display these images in hopes of bringing awareness to the sad plight of dogs in this country. So many of us love our dogs but not all dogs are lucky enough to find loving homes. Too many are living in the squalor of puppy mills, others are being used to fight, others are left tied to the end of a chain for virtually their entire lives. Over one million dogs are euthanized every year because no one wants them or no one wants them 'anymore.'. The good people that make rescue possible and those that adopt these beautiful, loving companions deserve to be seen. I hope my art, in a small way, raises public awareness and encourages people to adopt.
