The story behind the Urban Interweave series: Two years ago when I first heard about Beijing’s smog problem from CNN, I was very concerned. After brief study I understood it was mainly caused by air pollution, so I decided to paint a series of paintings to spark conversation about it. The Urban Interweave series talks the urban environment as examples to expose the ideas of climate change, from the impact of air pollution to ecological shifts, to think about our responsibility to protect the Earth. Maybe China’s smog problems are so far away from us, however, the sky has no boundaries and we are on the other side of supply chains. How can we protect our next generations from such man made hazards? I found the documentary film by the Chinese reporter “Chai Jing's review: Under the Dome – Investigating China’s Smog” from Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6X2uwlQGQM ). I realized these are truly serious issues. I would like to show my art side by side with this video.
