DK's Seven Deadly Sins

David Kail's avatar David Kail

In this seven panel illustration, I stylistically depict my visual interpretation of the seven deadly sins. Each 20"x30" panel depicts a specific sin. When put all together they form one seamless mural 140"s long. After starting this project I slowly realized the beauty in setting thematic rules and stylistic guide lines. By forcing myself to focus on the seven deadly sins, my mind has been challenged to think of visuals I have never thought of before. The more I drew the more the actual world became part of the illustration. My hectic maze of visuals intertwine, connect and engage viewers. It causes them to look closer, find clever representations and create stories. From a far it unites as a single visual unit. When closely examined, individual worlds emerge. It was a tough choice leaving my previous Art Prize project (Egg Prize). But I am excited to explore and display a new creative challenge for this years Art Prize.
