Morning Greeting

"Morning Greeting" came about from a deep love and awe of America and her beautiful landscapes. Utilizing the finest materials and minute brush work that I've refined from over 50 years of painting, I sought to translate the overwhelming majesty of Great Smoky Mountains National Park while contrasting the playfulness of bear cubs with the power of their mother, the decay of fallen leaves with the warmth of the sun, and the calm of the river with the alert herd of deer. I also aimed to show the intricacies of rock, stone, and boulder; objects that are so common and yet hold amazing diversity even just on their surfaces. I hope some portion of the awe I felt translates through this painting and acts to honor, and remind others of, our nation's beautiful landscapes.
