This piece is the fourth in a series under the title of Sing! The title comes from a quote by Paul Klee: "Why do two colors, put one next to the other sing? Can one really explain this?" It is a self portrait. If art is about state of mind, putting together colors brings me to a place I want to be and it makes me happy. Every time the colors combine, they sing! This is a self portrait only 12" by 12". I believe it best describes how I look at things. The first thing I look at are the color combinations in flowers, clothes, baseball fields, anything visual. First, I took white wool and I felted it to use as a background. Then I needle felted my silhouette. On that piece of white felt I sewed many small beads making up the design as I go. Here comes the color! If you look closely you will notice that I took care to make each combination of beads sing! Enjoy each one!! I mounted it on a black velvet frame. It is the kind of piece that makes you want to stop and look closer.
