Blue Eyes

This piece’s style was inspired by paintings from the late and middle 18th century by artists like Edgar Degas and Vincent van Gogh. It is meant to be a blend of realism created by the use of an under-drawing and grisaille with a palette and expressiveness of contemporary painters. The use of line and texture is gestural throughout leaving the viewer with the impression of subdued reality. And this is where the true beauty is withheld. The combination of the exaggerated color and somberness of the figure is meant to clash subduing one another until both are balanced in a never ending battle for dominance. It is quite simple and benign to the not real inquisitive viewer. However, it still lives as an illustration of art in its most pure form without symbol or message which can be affected by bias or preconceptions. A jewel to the impressionable but a stone to the romantic.
