REACH and SPLASH

I've named my two bronze statues "REACH and SPLASH" and they are my tribute to youth and spontaneity. The story they tell is of two teen aged kids who took a hike on an unknown path. When they came upon a rope swing dangling out over the water, they kicked off their shoes, reached for the rope, and took the plunge. NO plan, no preparation, no hesitation. No swimsuits, no towels, no lifeguard, no worries! ''REACH" (the girl statue) symbolizes the willingness of youth to reach towards the future, extend themselves, and try new things. "SPLASH" has already grabbed that rope swing, and is exuberantly making his entry (big splash) into the unknown of his future. There is a line in a song by John Lennon '("Beautiful Boy") that says....... "Life is just what happens to you, while you are busy making other plans." I think this summarizes a choice that we all have to make. Seize the moment, OR spend that same moment planning to. I hope that "Reach and Splash" will make you smile, and remind you to enjoy the moment that you are in.
