Sittin in the Mitten

Madchairs

The Giant Michigan Shaped Chair will include the mitten shape of the lower peninsula in the form an Adirondack chair. The chair will be made out of Western Red Cedar wood and hand built by myself and my team mate, Terry Trudell. The chair will stand nearly 8 feet tall from the ground. The statement is as follows: Michigan Supports its inhabitants and wildlife in such grand beauty yet simplicity. The giant chair is a metaphor of that support; as a chair offers support, so does this incredible land support its inhabitants. We invite you to sit or stand in the chair for photographs, but please refrain from climbing onto the arms as it is both dangerous and could harm either you or the chair.

About Madchairs

Terry Trudell and myself (Jonathan Ramer) met each other during nursing school and have become great friends. We discovered a common interest in both artistic expression and wood working.
