50 Bouquets

50 Bouquets speaks to our fascination with violence as well as our repulsion to it. The fifty suspended forms are comprised of the intricate silhouettes of common firearms in the United States. The guns are camouflaged through simple mirroring, repetition, and the use of felt--a soft, tactile material not usually associated with weapons. Each weapon is configured to create a vase or holster for a burst of floral foliage that features bullets interspersed as petals. The work is seductive, but ghostly, a skeletal procession of violence and beauty that provides a space for contemplation and questioning.
