The Rogues Gallery

The modern myth is populated by Superheroes, and heroes are truly defined by their villains. The Rogues Gallery originated from a deck of screen-printed playing cards. Each card of the deck represented a superheroic or supervillainous archetype. The French suits and card values were used to determine attributes of each archetype based on the symbolism and class representation. Six Supervillain archetypes were chosen and expanded into illustrated portraits using psychoses or negative emotional states to create more realized characters. Anxiety, depression, madness, and rage were given form in various ways with each character. The project is a visual combination between the beginning and the end of a creative system used to generate characters with more depth.
