Hey YouTube, It's Me

The dilemma with social media is that it can easily connect people while simultaneously isolating them. For this project the music performances recorded by YouTube users from inside their homes are given a public stage, audience, and opportunity for live collaboration with exhibition attendees as the source audio and video backdrop for karaoke. Prior to the exhibition there will be a call for individuals from Grand Rapids and beyond to submit their own YouTube performances to be part of the project. This will allow for attendees to connect with other members of the community through live duets and accompaniments. These improvised collaborations will lift the original YouTube performances to a new public realm. TO SUBMIT YOUR OWN VIDEO simply upload it to YouTube and include "ArtPrizeKaraoke" (without quotes) in the title. Your video will then be edited with text on top of it and added to the project playlist. The end result will look something like this: http://youtu.be/8BQbKrPhY14
