Taking Jackson Pollock for a Spin

Jessica Wildman's avatar Jessica Wildman

The first time I picked up a hula hoop since I was a child inspired a creative vision. Taking Jackson Pollock for a Spin is a playful performance exploration of abstract expressionism with a uniquely feminine interpretation of action painting inspired by the vision of Jackson Pollock. The performance uses custom made hula-hoops to serve as paint brushes where hips become the hands that paint, and the dance floor becomes the canvas. Post-performance relics are displayed at the B.O.B., including three 20 x 5 foot paintings, three paint drenched hula-hoops, and a video of the performance which occurred in the B.O.B. parking lot on Friday, September 19th 2014. Watch the performance video below, and stop by the B.O.B. to see the relics!
