No Place Like Home

My entry for "There's No Place Like Home" is an outdoor sculpture work that references the issues of incarceration of Black males in America. The work is going to be a large steel cage placed within an open space outdoor area. The work will also include casted life sized figures huddled together around a small campfire within the cage as audio of campfire music plays inside. Inspired by authors like Paul Beatty, Aaron Mcgruder, and Baratunde Thurston, "There's No Place Like Home" will discuss racial topics of today, but will challenge how we perceive them through satire, and creating an absurd scenario of a group of black men hanging out at a campsite within a giant prison cell.
