A Greenhouse for Life

Julie Friedman's avatar Julie Friedman

Tyvek and a knife are used to create this installation. With cut paper imagery the silhouette is stressed, the essence of the shape is its strength. Simplicity is paramount. A Greenhouse for Life is fragile yet durable. It creates a paradigm of the plant forms that give life and make it beautiful. There are magical and mundane images. Cast shadows create another world inside and around the structure. Being surrounded by this flat, silhouetted and bold imagery takes the viewer into the realm of a known world and leads to a path toward the unknown and the newly created.
