I Hear the Train a Comin'

My Artprize 2014 entry is a large mural that will be an onsite work in progress at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. The medium is chalk pastels blended on multiple wood panels to create one large piece. The subject is the Pere Marquette 1225, built in 1941, which was the largest and most powerful steam locomotive of its time. The engine’s main purpose was transporting war materials between Michigan cities and later served as the inspiration for the popular children's book, “The Polar Express.” As with many others, my fascination with trains started when I was a young boy and continues today.
