This work is about transformation. When I originally meet a stone it is rough and un-worked. The naked eye it looks like a boulder. Its value is covered, years of history and bruising often covers the surface. One of the reasons why I choose marble as a material to communicate through is that the material itself speaks to its history. The elements are made strong through the pressure that has been imposed upon it. It is my job to release the hidden beauty. My desire is to communicate through this work the beauty of transcendence. By pushing the material to its furthest limits releasing it’s hidden beauty. Pressure creates strength, work creates beauty. Outside and internal elements transform the spirit.
