The Dandelion - Brought to this continent by immigrants and grown in gardens as a highly valued food source, It has multiplied and has gone from being an important staple in peoples diet to being considered a noxious weed. I look for beauty in common everyday things. The inspiration for my painting came while photographing a Dandelion growing out of a crack in cement. The tenacity of this plant is so that not only did this plant grow from a seemingly impossible place, it was beautiful! The tenacity of the people that brought this plant to our continent is similar to that of the dandelion as they have flourished. The bounty of this world is amazing...it is the everyday in nature that adds beauty and enriches our lives. The painting is a Pentaptych and is 4' 7" x 4' 7". Four of the panels are approximately 2' x 3' and they surround a small center panel. The painting is of a Dandelion with most of it's white seed pods having floated (multiplying) off into the air.
