What I want to show the World...

I have participated in ArtPrize the past two years. My previous entries consisted of multiple paintings to create a larger impact, since I have no notoriety as an artist. This year I chose to enter just one painting in the hopes of getting into one of the venues with the highest traffic. I conceived an idea to paint a large portrait of my daughter, who was born with a severe neurological disorder called Rett Syndrome. My daughter never learned to roll, sit, walk, or talk. But she had a smile and laughter that could light up an entire room. Once a person made eye contact with her, they knew she had a bright personality. She was adored by all who met her. She was quiet, sweet, and incredibly loving. Very sadly, she passed away suddenly on May 16, she was sixteen years old. Her death has left a gaping hole in the lives of all who knew her, especially her father and I. When I entered, I had intended to show the world the sparkle that is my daughter.
