SABBATH REST This oil on canvas was inspired by a pleasant Sunday drive north on M22 to the shores of Lake Michigan in Frankfort. The special day spent on the beach with my wife, reminded me of God’s call for us to rest, taking time to enjoying His creation and each other. In today’s busy world we are continually bombarded by noise, both visual and audio, that removes so many opportunities to witness the simple beauty that surrounds us... − The great blue sky’s canopy stretching to the horizon, and hugging the shoreline − Sounds of seagulls, flying high above − Digesting in conversation with one another, without the aid of technology − Feeling the soft summer breeze wrap around you gently, as you quiet your mind − Smelling the water’s fragrance, and dipping your feet into the cool water and soft sand. This was the inspiration for my painting...appreciating the simplicity of a beautiful day...my ‘Sabbath Rest.” Take time from doing, to enjoy being, doing the important things in life!
