God's Kitchen

Potters for the Hungry

"John Doe" could be any of the many hungry faces of people in need. He sits upon a pile of hand made pottery bowls, which represent the food which God's Kitchen brings to the hungry. The full size figure is made totally of clay and the hundreds of potters bowls were created by our hands. The need of the hungry comes in all shapes, sizes and colors, just like the hundreds of handmade bowls that are part of this entry. The piece including all of the bowls will be donated to God's Kitchen for the annual Soup's On fundraiser. And if by chance we would win any prize money, that will also be donated to God's Kitchen to help feed those in need. Last year God's Kitchen served 184,000 meals. This averages to about 520 meals a day and includes services at 9 meal sites across 11 counties and home delivered meals. Our entry includes 800 hand made pottery bowls, which represents just over one days worth of meals served. Thanks to the generous donation of bowls by over 50 potters!
