Tipi Dream

Eight support poles provide the frame and last remnants of reality as the dream takes over. Four smokey spirals represent the four winds as they funnel toward the octagonal vent in Fibonacci progression. Each spiral holds a different image of significance to the dreamer. The sustainable corn that twists to become strands of DNA. The night owl banking in the wind preparing to land. The breaching fish exploding out of the stream and reentering with Olympic precision. Finally, the curious bear in camp twists upward to become the Ursus Major constellation. Inspired in part by the photography of Andrea Hamlin, the re-purposed glass cabinet door serves as the base to allow light to pass, similar in appearance to a traditional stained glass window. Over 25 different types of glass and beads went into the work. The varied patterns in the glass achieve the texture of fur, feather and fin.
