Storm (After Heade)

I paint with a palette knife, applying paint generously and unhesitatingly. My approach to the canvas is visceral and dynamic. I want the viewer to love the look of paint and color on the surface, and see how a few marks can create an illusion — an illusion that also exists and dissolves in our vision into pure surface and raw paint. I am not interested in rendering specific images of places. I want a painting to work on two levels — first, pure, holy paint —and then pull you again to some universal or abstract idea, passion and experience of Land, Water and raw Human Emotion and Spirit without a second thought.
