"A Thousand Prayers" is a 3' x 12' artwork on black oak easels representing 1,000 voices of prayer and Scripture promises commissioned to enrich a sermon series for an Indiana church. A spectrum of earthy colors painted in rhythmic flowing motion represent the heart of God. All ages of the church community submitted and hand-wrote 1-line prayers across the intertwining foundation of colors reflecting personal and intercessory voices. I enter this piece as the artist; yet, moreso as a participant of an envisioned project that exceeded visual aesthetics or performance entertainment. I witnessed the hearts of an audience respond to art "as" connection with God, self, and community and as a form of worship. God whispered hope through the process of this concept. We are not alone. This is not a piece that can be casually walked by. It has a reach that extends to the soul. So, with humility, I submit this piece over my signature technique of acrylic mosaic-montage with a prayer for impact.
