Title: Noir. 28" H x 84" W. This painting is based on a 1946 film entitled "The Killers". The image was taken from a television screen and manipulated in Photoshop to "stretch" it and emphasize the intimate but threatening feeling in the scene. I was attracted to the image which I "grabbed" with my camera because of the black and white contrast and the beautiful reflections and shadows of the diner set. The tension and mystery expressed within the relationship of the actors also drew me towards the image, as well as those wonderful hats. The scene was drawn free-hand on the canvas and I used black and white pigment with greens which enhanced the dark areas but are not apparent to the viewer.
