Extravagance Series of 3

Two things pierce the soul, beauty and affliction (Simone Weil). My soul is pierced by the amazing extravagance of beauty found in God’s creation. The desire to know, perceive and express the transcendent, things like beauty, are at the core of my artist existence. I am both fascinated by and long to understand what creation speaks about the Creator and His character. The objective of this current series is to help others see the “everyday beauty” in the sometimes overlooked. By changing the scale of the flowers it helps us see the intricate, fragile and quickly passing beauty within creation. The flowers are like faces, opening up to the sun. And just like flowers, we humans are beautiful, fragile, prolific and short-lived. This series is also a celebration of extravagant color, the extravagant love of our Creator splashed across His canvas of creation. I hope that every time you see a flower in bloom, you hear your Creator say, “I love you.”
